Integrated Solutions for Systems Inc., an employee-owned engineering firm headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, has become one of the state’s most innovative technology companies, advancing national defense and engineering excellence through its work in aerospace, energetics and navigation systems. Founded in 2008 on principles of ethical engineering and collaboration, IS4S has grown to more than 400 employee-owners with offices and facilities in Huntsville, Auburn, Opelika, Redstone Arsenal and a 3,400-acre test range in Marion County co-located with a new $2.1 million research and development center.
IS4S’s core competencies span systems engineering and integration, software development, open systems architecture, computational physics, additive manufacturing, production and advanced testing. The company is a national leader in assured Positioning, Navigation and Timing solutions, serving as the U.S. Air Force’s design agent for Software-Defined User Equipment, the Resilient Embedded GPS/INS program and the Common Modular Software-Defined Radio. Its modular, open-architecture approach enables rapid integration of new technologies, ensuring U.S. warfighters maintain a decisive edge in contested environments.
IS4S has played a critical role in advancing missile systems, energetics and manufacturing. Projects have included carriage and release equipment for the B-52H bomber, resilient energetics development and conformally printed electronic circuits for 40mm grenades. Its North Alabama Range supports hypervelocity impact testing, light gas gun experiments and other high-energy research capabilities that strengthen Alabama’s leadership in aerospace and defense innovation.
The company’s investment in Marion County represents a significant milestone for rural economic growth, creating high-tech, lucrative engineering positions and expanding Alabama’s defense testing infrastructure. The $2.1 million facility co-located with its range provides space for advanced research while offering new opportunities for engineers in Alabama.
IS4S’s innovation extends beyond defense. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the firm partnered with Auburn University and The University of Alabama in Huntsville to design and produce the RE-InVENT emergency ventilator converter, moving from prototype to production in just three days. In 2024, IS4S became title sponsor of the Camellia Bowl in Montgomery, renaming it the “IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl” to honor those who have served.
