James C. “Bam” Bambarger

Member: 2008
Board of Directors: 2012-2022
Board Chair: 2014-2016, 2022

On Sunday, June 5, 2022, the State of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame lost a dear friend and staunch supporter who exemplified the spirit and vitality that the organization strives to achieve in recognizing those who have dedicated their lives to the profession of engineering in Alabama.

Jim, or Bam as he was known by his many friends and colleagues, was quick to share his smile and enthusiasm bringing pleasure to so many people with whom he met. We are thankful for his clear leadership as chair of the Board of Directors and his unselfish service on the Board for ten years.

Born in Baldwin County and a resident of Eutaw, Alabama, Bam received his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Alabama. His dedication as a registered Professional Engineer led him to be named the Chief Executive Officer of TTL, Inc., a construction materials testing company. Bam served as chairman of the College of Engineering Leadership Board and was named a CE Departmental Fellow in 1992 and a College of Engineering Distinguished Fellow in 2002 for his service and support of his alma mater.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his extended family and his friends during this time of great sorrow. We will dedicate ourselves to celebrate his life and to emulate his many attributes as we work to fulfill the mission of the AEHOF in bringing recognition to those who call themselves “engineer.”
