A. Nicole Faulk

Year Inducted: 2024

Through dedication to her profession, Nicole Faulk has impacted the Southeast, the energy industry and future engineers. She has served the Southern Company for more than 25years, becoming a leader in the boardroom and using her position to help young women succeed in engineering.

Faulk is currently senior vice president of Sustainability and Environmental Affairs at Alabama Power Company, responsible for environmental strategy and compliance while overseeing the company’s sustainability and environmental stewardship initiatives.

Faulk graduated from Auburn University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering. She began her career with Southern Company in 1998 as an engineer at Southern Nuclear.

She has held positions of increasing responsibility, beginning at Farley Nuclear Plant where she earned her Senior Reactor Operator license. Farley produces roughly 19percent of Alabama Power’s electricity, impacting the lives of thousands of Alabamians. She has vast experience in the operations, design and implementation of nuclear facilities in Southern Company’s fleet, where she was an original member of the team developing Georgia Power’s Vogtle Units 3 and 4, the first new nuclear plants to be built in the United States in more than 30 years.

Faulk’s further experience in Georgia and Mississippi helped pave her career back into engineering roles at Alabama Power.

Prior to returning to Alabama Power, Faulk was senior vice president of Customer Strategy and Solutions at Georgia Power where she was responsible for customer satisfaction, electric transportation, customer operations, new product development and resiliency solutions.

She also served as vice president of Corporate Services for Georgia Power, where she provided leadership and oversight for safety and health, facilities management, fleet management, forestry and rights-of-way and shared services. In addition, she was Southern Company Services vice president in a dual role with responsibility for Southern Company Gas and SCS fleet and facilities management.

Faulk was vice president of Customer Service and Operations at Mississippi Power, with responsibility for Power Delivery, including transmission, distribution and engineering, as well as marketing and sales, customer service and the Customer Call Center.

Assuming a role back in her home state, Nicole served as vice president of Transmission Construction and Protection and Control (P&C) at Alabama Power, where she oversaw the transmission line construction, substation construction and P&C service teams. Through her work in this role, she impacted the lives of countless Alabama Power employees, helping to ensure their safety in the field.

A devoted Auburn alumna, Faulk has contributed her resources to engineering education. She spearheaded the100+ Women Strong organization, was past chair of the Auburn Engineering Alumni Council, past chair of the Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame and currently serves as a member of the Auburn University Foundation Board. Faulk was named the Greater Birmingham Auburn Club’s Distinguished Alumni in 2023, received Auburn University’s Distinguished Engineer award in 2022 and was named Auburn’s Mechanical Engineering Alumna of the year in2018.
